Gerd Dagne was born in Passaic, NJ, in 1957. He graduated with a BA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute, and began a career as a commercial artist in the early 1980’s. His medium was airbrush, and his career as an illustrator took off. Gerd always had the desire to paint his own visions rather than someone else’s, so he began doing just that, creating imagery in oil on canvas in 2000. More recently, his paintings increasingly became mini-journeys into the pop surrealism of his mind. His artwork was featured in the book, EdgyCute – From Neo-Pop to Low Brow and Back Again, by Harry Saylor, as well as in group exhibits at Orbit Gallery in NJ, and Limner Gallery in Hudson, NY. He maintains a sketchbook of thumbnails of future works, currently exploring some 3D work…so stay tuned.
